Dr. Joseph A. Khalil, DDS is a healthcare entrepreneur, nonprofit leader, and community advocate whose career has focused on advancing excellence in healthcare delivery, organizational leadership, and service to underserved communities.
Dr. Khalil earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2000, where he received multiple academic distinctions. He subsequently completed advanced specialty training in Prosthodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
As the founder and owner of multiple dental practices in Northern Virginia, Dr. Khalil has built healthcare organizations centered on clinical excellence, operational effectiveness, and patient-focused care. His leadership experience includes strategic planning, organizational development, financial stewardship, and management of multimillion-dollar healthcare operations.
A commitment to service has been a defining element of Dr. Khalil’s life and career. During his youth in Lebanon, he volunteered with the Boy Scouts and the Red Cross, experiences that shaped his lifelong dedication to humanitarian work. While pursuing his dental education, he participated in the Jamaica Project, an international outreach initiative providing dental services to communities with limited access to care.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Khalil has played an active role in civic and nonprofit leadership. He served as President of the Lebanese American Council for Democracy (LACD) from 2016 to 2018, helping strengthen organizational governance, expand community engagement, and support initiatives promoting democratic values and reform in Lebanon.
He is also the founder and Executive Director of Empower Lebanon, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving lives through healthcare initiatives, educational support, humanitarian assistance, and community development. Through strategic partnerships, the organization has implemented projects designed to address critical needs and support communities across Lebanon.
Dr. Khalil additionally serves on the Board of Directors of the American Friends of Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU), contributing to efforts that advance educational opportunities and strengthen ties between Lebanese and American communities.
Throughout his career, Dr. Khalil has combined healthcare expertise, entrepreneurial leadership, and a commitment to public service to create organizations and initiatives that promote opportunity, resilience, and lasting community impact. He resides in Northern Virginia, where he continues to support efforts that advance healthcare, education, and humanitarian development.
